EDP Division


Introduction

The Electronic Data Processing (EDP) Division is entrusted with the work of strengthening IT activities which include maintenance of online applications for recognition under Section 14,15 appeals under Section 18 of the NCTE Act; internet connectivity and website design and maintenance etc. In addition, it is envisioned that it would also look after implementation of Office Automation, Mapping of Teacher Education Institutions through Geographical Information System (GIS), Legal Case Management System, Digitization of Records with retrieval system, ISO 9001:2008 and video conferencing in addition to trouble shooting of IT related problems.

Activities The following activities are currently undertaken by the EDP Division:

  1. Development of e-Solution for Regulatory Functions u/S 13,14,15,17,18 and Redesign and Development of Dynamic Website.
    • As on date, new and very comprehensive online applications for recognition/for additional intake/shifting of premises/change of management of Teacher Education Institution/closure of running institutions under Section 14/15, online appeal process under Section 18 of NCTE Act 1995 are being developed. Simultaneously the work on redesign and development of website from present static environment to dynamic and vibrant version is being taken up separately. The contract of development of eSolution for regulatory functions and redesign and development of dynamic website is awarded to M/s Xchanging Technologies India Private Limited, Gurgaon through open tender process. EDP hopes to accomplish these works within next 4 months starting from May 2015.
  2. ISO 9001:2008
    • The ISO 9001 family of quality management systems standards is designed to help organizations ensure that they meet and exceed the needs and expectation of customers and other stakeholders while meeting statutory and regulatory requirements related to a product or service. ISO 9001 deals with the fundamentals of quality management systems, including the eight management principles upon which the family of standards is based. ISO 9001 deals with the requirements that organizations wishing to meet the standard must fulfill.
    • NCTE embarked on its journey to achieve the coveted ISO 9001 certification for its HQ and 4 Regional Offices in January, 2015. The consulting assignment was awarded to PMG Consultants of Gurgaon, through a tender. Mr. Piyush Kumar, Proprietor of PMG Consultants, a Black Belt of Six Sigma and an ISO professional is helping NCTE in ISO 9001 implementation. After the awareness training at all 5 offices of NCTE. Officials of NCTE are standardizing and developing Quality Management System documentation. Currently, needs and expectations of all the stakeholders are assessed and the risk assessment is carried out for its management processes, so that all the stakeholder needs and expectations are exceeded. NCTE’s endeavor to bring transparency and efficiency in its working is getting channelized through ISO 9001 and E-governance implementation.
    • Upon completion of ISO 9001 documentation, all its 5 offices (Headquarter and 4 Regional Committees will be subjected to internal audit to assess the level of current compliance(s). Mission of ISO 9001 certification for all the 5 offices of NCTE is now planned to be accomplished by August, 2015.
  3. Virtual Call Centre/Public Grievance Redressal System
    • A Virtual Call Centre has been instituted by the office for facilitating free flow of information amongst Teacher Education Institutions, Students, Teachers and other stakeholders. This call centre is working since 6th April, 2015 regularly between 9am-5pm, five days a week. The Virtual Call Centre was officially inaugurated by Shri J. Alam, Joint Secretary, Ministry of HRD, Government of India.
  4. Database
    • This Division is also in the process of coordinating compilation of information on following subjects:
      1. List of recognised institutions
      2. Data base of faculty members of TEIs
      3. Database of visiting team experts for inspections of TEIs
      4. Database of subject experts
      5. Database of demand and supply of teachers state-wise
      6. Database of University Teaching Departments
